I recently wrote an article about the racquets that pros use. That article was fun to write, so I thought it would be fun to do a follow-up article on the clothing brands they wear too.
Novak Endorses Lacoste
Novak Djokovic is not just arguably the best player of all time. He is also always one of the best dressed playersRene Lacoste, former French player and one of the members of the four Musketeers of French tennis, is the founder of Lacoste.
His nickname was the “Crocodile,” which explains how the crocodile became the logo for his brand. Lacoste proudly endorses Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic symbolically signed his endorsement dealwith Lacoste a little more than six years ago on his 30th birthday. Novak said: “Rene Lacoste is a very unique personality, a great champion, and someone who brought a revolution in tennis and fashion. In 1933, he invented the Polo shirts that we all wear today. It’s pretty amazing for me to have a connection to his name, his legacy, and the stamp he left”.
Nike Recognized Alcaraz’s Talent
Nike is known to sign contracts with the best athletes in the world, and when the rise of Carlos Alcaraz began, Nike could not miss the opportunity to sign another great Spanish player besides Rafael Nadal.
Carlitos, as Carlos is called by his friends and family, signed an endorsement deal with Nike when he was just 16 years old. On the tennis court, he wears the Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pros. These are one of the most popular sneakers on the ATP tour. In addition to Alcaraz, they are worn by Holger Rune, Andrey Rublev, and Karen Khachanov.
The youngest player ever to reach the #1 spot in the ATP rankings recently received a custom designed sneaker from Nike that contains his grandfather’s motto: “Cabeza, corazon y cojones,” which translates to “head, heart, and balls.”
These are all qualities that distinguish the young Spanish player and the sneakers he received are a tribute to him as a player.
Medvedev Also Wears Lacoste
Like Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, 2021 U.S. Open Champion and the current #3 ranked player in the world, collaborates with Lacoste. Medvedev entered into a collaboration with the French company in 2019.
Earlier this year, Medvedev and Lacoste launched a custom Medvedev logo. The logo contains a tennis ball on top, with his initials below that and two letter I’s below that because Daniil has two I’s in his first name.
“This new logo on this dedicated collection is a real pride for me,” Medvedev says ahead of the Australian Open. “It’s the first time a partner has offered it to me. It was a real team effort with the Lacoste creative studio. It perfectly reflects all my passions: tennis with the circle, for example, which evokes the tennis ball and gaming.”
Ruud in Love with Yonex
The best Norwegian player of all time, who just played in the French Open final for the second year in a row, has a comprehensive deal with the sports brand Yonex.
Casper Ruud has been working with the Japanese company ever since he started to make his way to the top of the world. All the clothing he wears, and the racquet he plays with,, are from Yonex.
“They provide me with great quality equipment when it comes to both clothing/shoes and racquets. I feel very comfortable and confident in my game with the Yonex racquet I use and ever since I started using Yonex I’ve played some great tennis. It’s a very serious and professional brand and they always follow up on me and provide me with anything I would need. I feel privileged to have them on my team and hopefully they will be with me for many more years!”
Adidas Believes in Tsitsipas
Stefanos Tsitsipas is a global ambassador of Adidas, along with Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem. The Greek player has been collaborating with Adidas since 2015, and the Adidas Barricade sneakers he wears are especially eye-catching.
Swiatek Wears On
Iga Swiatek, the women #1 ranked player and recent French Open Champion, recently signed a deal to wear On apparel and sneakers. On is a Swiss brand.
Exciting year of some announcements and next steps on my journey. I’m thrilled to announce I am the first female tennis athlete at @on_running. I’m happy the On team believes in me as an athlete and a person. We plan to grow, develop and make an impact together,” Iga Swiatek wrote on Instagram.
From head to toe, Swiatek is sponsored by the company that famously partnered with Roger Federer. The On brand also endorses Ben Shelton. Interestingly, On is developing a custom sneaker for Swiatek and, in the meantime, Swiatek continues to wear Asics sneakers.
Sabalenka Chooses Nike
Aryna Sabalenka, who is right behind Swiatek in the WTA rankings, is sponsored by Nike. Sabalenka, a Belarusian player, wears Nike clothing and sneakers. She wears the Nike Zoom NXT sneakers.
