Today I had the opportunity to demo the entire line-up of Head’s top of the line tennis racquets. I was especially excited about this because I currently play with a Head Instinct racquet, which Head considers to be a “Recreational” racquet and not part of their top of the line Tour Series.

Head’s Tour Series includes the following 6 series of racquets.

Boom Tennis Racquets

Speed Tennis Racquets

Radical Tennis Racquets

Gravity Tennis Racquets

Extreme Tennis Racquets

Prestige Tennis Racquets

Each racquet series includes several varieties. For instance, the Boom series includes 4 racquets including the Boom Pro, Boom MP, Boom TEAM and Boom TEAM L. The MP stands for Mid-Plus.

I got to play with each racquet. It was very exciting because I have been wanting to get a new racquet. Plus, many of my favorite players use Head racquets. Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner play with a Speed racquet and Coco Gauff plays with a Boom racquet. Taylor Fritz plays with a Radical racquet.

The first observation was that each racquet felt different and played a bit differently. I quickly narrowed my options down to the Speed MP and Boom MP. The MP versions are the most popular within each of these series of racquets.

Both racquets gave me a lot more power and “pop” off of the racquet than my current Instinct racquet. Between the two, the Speed enhanced my “feel” for the racquet and my shots with spin felt effortless. I felt that the Boom gave me more power and the ball felt that it really “boomed” upon impact.

I played for an hour, alternating between each racquet. In the end, I selected the Speed MP as my favorite racquet. I plan on buying the Speed MP this week and can’t wait to start using it!
